Campbell Alliance Clinical Development Practice to Present at Marcus Evans’s Optimizing Clinical Trials Conference

October 1, 2008

Campbell Alliance, the leading management consulting firm specializing in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, today announced that Gary Tyson, Senior Vice President and head of its Clinical Development Practice, will present a session at Marcus Evans’s Optimizing Clinical Trials Conference. The conference will be held on October 2 and 3, 2008, at the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner in Vienna, VA.

Mr. Tyson’s presentation, titled “Protocol Development: Three Keys to Faster, Better Protocols,” is slated for Thursday, October 2 at 2:30 pm. The session will identify opportunities for significantly improving the protocol development process and will examine each of those opportunities in depth. Mr. Tyson will discuss the importance of the following: approaching protocol development in a process-oriented manner, properly identifying roles of various staff involved in development and review, and eliminating the “white space” where no value is added to the protocol development process.

“Approaches to protocol development have remained virtually unchanged during the last decade, despite modifications in nearly every other aspect of clinical study execution,” said Mr. Tyson. “Consequently, protocol development has secured a reputation for being a labor-intensive, poorly designed process that results in significant amounts of rework. If, however, the process is well-defined, it can significantly benefit an organization by keeping the study within budget and time parameters.”
As head of Campbell Alliance’s Clinical Development Practice, Gary Tyson leads a team that provides a range of operational improvement services to clinical development organizations within pharmaceutical and biotech companies, as well as leading contract research organizations.  Mr. Tyson is a veteran of numerous electronic-data-capture-related initiatives, and he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in process improvement, organizational design, and clinical development to his consulting engagements.
