Campbell Alliance Sales Practice to Present at 2008 BIO Human Resources Conference

Campbell Alliance, the leading management consulting firm specializing in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, today announced that Garry O’Grady, Senior Vice President and head of the firm’s Sales Practice, will present a session on aligning internal processes with corporate strategy at Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) Human Resources Conference in San Diego, to be held October 26 through 28, 2008, at the Omni San Diego Hotel.
Mr. O’Grady’s session, titled “Positioning HR as a Strategic Leader in Your Organization: How to Align Processes and Culture with Corporate Strategy,” is scheduled for Monday, October 27. His presentation is the third track within the first breakout session of the conference, which is slated for 10:45 am to 12:00 pm. Mr. O’Grady will examine the strategic role an HR department plays within an organization, underscore how HR can contribute to the strategic objectives of an organization and the goals of various business units, and discuss building a framework to align HR strategies and tactics with those of the larger organization. Additionally, this session will review case studies from pharma and biotech companies to help illustrate the most effective means of executing this approach.
“In many pharma and biotech organizations, HR is focused more at the tactical level and concentrates primarily on risk management issues, which makes for a didactic and cyclical approach to HR’s activities from year to year,” said Mr. O’Grady. “Ideally, however, HR should play a proactive, strategic role in helping align internal processes and the organization’s culture with the corporate strategy that resonates from the top down.”
Between his service as an officer in the United States Army and joining Campbell Alliance eight years ago, Mr. O’Grady was a member of the Surgical Products Division of Olympus America, Inc. As a salesperson on the division’s Urology Products Marketing Team, he distinguished himself as a member of Olympus’s top sales group. Mr. O’Grady also served as a sales representative for Ciba-Geigy and was a member of Ciba’s Circle of Excellence. Mr. O’Grady received his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his BS from the United States Military Academy, West Point.
